Edge Hill Volunteer Fair

We had a fabulous time at The Hub, Edge Hill University Volunteer Fair at Ormskirk today.

From meeting a lot of lovely people, students and other stall holders to expanding our network.

Everyone was really friendly and we gave out over 150 flyers and spoke to a number of people who were interested in our table and what MakeItWorkShop stood for and what we do.

Darth Maul: Star Wars Episode 1: The Phantom Menace MIWS

Posted on Updated on

WOW…. he is a magnificent sight to behold. Standing 6ft tall. He is quite menacing.

A deadly, agile Sith Lord trained by the evil Darth Sidious, Darth Maul was a formidable warrior and scheming mastermind. He wielded an intimidating double-bladed lightsaber and fought with a menacing ferocity.

He was introduced in Star Wars. Episode 1 : The Phantom Menace.

Originally from a fast food publicity display for Star Wars he is quite a collectors item.

He has a few signs of wear and tear which is to be expected from a piece of the age.

He really is a MUST for any Star Wars enthusiast.

As always we are open to offers, can negotiate and also barter. We are looking for offers in the region of £850.

He has to be seen to be appreciated, so COME ON IN and check him out.

We are open Tuesday to Saturday 12 noon to 5pm and are based at MakeItWorkShop CIC, Cambridge Walks, Cambridge Arcade, Southport, PR8 1EN.

I WHO …. Something Old Something New.. Something Borrowed and…. A Few Daleks

Posted on Updated on

MakeItWorkShop’s resident Daleks Dread and Drik recently had 2 very special Vip invitations and were extremely excited.

Will Corfield and Nicola Oldham were celebrating a Whoovian themed wedding at the fabulous Lakeside Suite in Southport.

Sworn to their best behaviour not to exterminate anyone, Drik and Dread made their way along Lord Street towards the reception.

They did stop for a few Selfies on the way with a few shoppers wanting to say Hi.

Both the Bride and groom looked amazing and Bridesmaids were all dressed in Tardis blue.

The Bride and Groom were seated at the head table with their own Sonic Screwdrivers side by side. Dread and Drik were behind. This gave them a great vantage point to see all the guests and plot their demise if they misbehaved.

It was a family friendly Doctor Who wedding. They used blue as a key colour … which was completed with a beautiful Doctor Who cake topper – The Doctor and His Companion running. Decorated in Gallifreyian text – the language of the Time Lords. It looked amazing.
The Lakeside Suite was a perfect location overlooking the Marine Lake. The entrance was adorned with a River Song Journal as a Guest Book which the team signed on behalf of Drik and Dread. There were also small wooden hearts to write a message on and post into a picture frame. The Tardis blue theme carried into the blue chair sashes and napkin ties, and also had blue LEDs in the centre pieces

Thank you for a wonderful day Will and Nicola Oldham.

Dalek Drik (our 7ft gold Dalek) is available for hire and a quote on request can be provided. Dalek Dread (5ft Black Dalek) has returned to Skaro and isnt returning our calls at the moment.

Get yourself down to our sister site at 16 Prince’s Street/corner of Market Street, Southport, PR8 1EZ and take part in a FREE COMMUNITY EVENT TODAY at 1pm -3pm.

We would really love to see you with your electric/electronic items. We are working with Merseyside Recycling and Waste Authority to find ways of reducing Landfill, reusing precious materials and in turn save you money. Most electric/electronic items throw away are still in perfect working order or need a simple repair.

Do you have items sitting around that you are thinking of throwing away because they have brought a newer model out, you have more then one, you never got around to repair it – bring it along and we will PAT TEST them and discuss if it can be repaired, reused, repurposed or discuss ways of how to donate.

Southport – Hidden Not Hiding.

What do you think of when you say SOUTHPORT? The Marine lake, the beach, Lord Street, Chapel Street. Awesome events like the Food Festival, The AirShow, The Musical Firework Championship, the Christmas Light Switch On.

All of these are amazing events and attract both local residents and visitors into Southport.

There are some wonderfully unique, qwerky independent small businesses right in the heart of Southport that remain hidden but are not hiding. Is a brilliant website run by Southport Bid to showcase Southport’s Independents across Southport that you might be missing out on. It’s amazing how many people say when they find MakeItWorkShop “how long have you been here, didn’t know you existed!” We are now into our 7th year.

MakeItWorkShop’s new premises at 16 Princes Street/Market Street where we run our FREE GET IT GOING AGAIN events and more recently our Victorian Eye Glass project, is part of a community of electic shops. Ranging from Tattoo’s, vinyl records, books, lighting, cafe’s, cakes, watches, hobby craft, blinds, health, pop up shops, retro and antiques to name but a few.

Watch out for the new hashtag that we will be using on here, Twitter, Instagram, Tumblr and Snapchat #marketqrt for updates.
