Well what a fabulous success it has been so far for our GIGA Events. We have been on the road since May this year. Our initial GIGA event started in November last year and we have gone from strength to strength. Our last event gave us 40 items to PAT TEST and repair. It’s wonderful to see how far we have come. We have also met some wonderful organisations and people.
Working alongside Merseyside Recycling and Waste Authority has been mutually beneficial and we have saved numerous items from Landfill as well as saving people money.
We have our next event at the offices of Merseyside Recycling and Waste on Thursday 26th July between 11am and 2pm. We are really excited about this one.
Directions are above in the poster telling you how to get there by train, bus and car. The address is 7th Floor, No 1 Mann Island, Liverpool, L3 1BP.
We will be carrying out FREE PAT TESTING, and FREE repairs during the event. It’s been so satisfying knowing we are helping the environment and helping people.
We would love to see you at Mann Island.
WE ARE ON THE ROAD AGAIN…..L this time we are off to GranbyToxteth Development Trust based at 129d Lodge Lane, Liverpool, L8.

Do you have things gathering dust in the corner, you keep saying you will put it in the trash or have a go repairing. SAVE YOURSELF MONEY. Bring it down and we will check it out for you.
Working closely with Merseyside Recycling and Waste Authority our ethos is repair, reuse, repurpose or donate. Keep it out the landfill.
WE ARE ON THE ROAD AGAIN
Our fabulous GIGA event is on the road again and on Monday 4th June we will be at The Croissant Of Inequality Cafe. This is a wonderful place that offers events, training and activities in Kensington area of Liverpool 7.
We will be inviting people of the community to bring along their electrical and electronic items to have a FREE PAT TEST and see if their items can be repaired rather then thrown away.
The Croissant Cafe is located at 53-57 Holt Road, Kensington, Liverpool, L7 2PN.
WE WILL BE AVAILABLE at the event from 11am to 3pm.
In collaboration with MERSEYSIDE RECYCLING AND WASTE AUTHORITY – MakeItWorkShop CIC will be holding its 2nd FREE community event at the fabulous Granby Toxteth Development Trust on Thursday 14th June between 11am and 2pm.
We had such an amazing turn out at our first On The Road event so decided to come back. It was brilliant that so many people brought things along for FREE PAT TESTS and repairs.
This really can SAVE YOU MONEY and cut down on landfill. Do you have electric/electronic items gathering dust that you just haven’t gotten round to putting in the bin. Why not get them checked out. MOST ELECTRIC/ELECTRONIC ITEMS PLACED ON LANDFILL STILL WORK!!!! Some just need a small fix. Don’t rush out and buy a new one yet, check if it can be repaired.
So why repair….it saves money, saves waste, saves energy and natural resources.
DONT THROW IT AWAY…..see if it can be restored. Even if it can’t be repaired there are many options still available.
We would love to see you on Thursday 14th June so come on down to Granby To the Development Trust.

Is your toaster toast? Has your kettle run out of steam?
Do you have old electrical items lying around at home?
From kettles to cameras, from battery-operated toys to toasters, from power drills to mobile phones, you have a few options other then putting them in the bin.
Repair, recycle or reuse. By doing this the electrical goods we stop going to landfill helps preserve resources and energy, and stops harmful chemicals entering the environment. As councils warn of a £1bn hike in their rubbish disposal bills because of rising landfill taxes, its time we rethought what we do with those items.
So how much money can be saved? A lot is the simple answer. Cutting down on electrical waste is a key part of this.
Get yourself down to our sister site at 16 Prince’s Street/corner of Market Street, Southport, PR8 1EZ and take part in a FREE COMMUNITY EVENT TODAY at 1pm -3pm.
We would really love to see you with your electric/electronic items. We are working with Merseyside Recycling and Waste Authority to find ways of reducing Landfill, reusing precious materials and in turn save you money. Most electric/electronic items throw away are still in perfect working order or need a simple repair.
Do you have items sitting around that you are thinking of throwing away because they have brought a newer model out, you have more then one, you never got around to repair it – bring it along and we will PAT TEST them and discuss if it can be repaired, reused, repurposed or discuss ways of how to donate.
Is your toaster toast or your kettle run out of steam? Do you have old electrics/electronics lying around at home? From kettles to cameras, cameras to power drills, laptops to P.C’s. PLEASE DONT THROW THEM AWAY!
Makeitworkshop will carry out FREE PAT TESTS and check if your item is still useable. We can also discuss how to fix it.
There are many options available if you have unwanted or unused electrical/electronic items, donation to a worthy cause, taking the working parts of a broken item and finding another use, fixing it are just a few ideas.
We are running another Get It Going Again Event on FRIDAY 13th April between 1pm and 3pm. You can find us on the corner of Market Street and Princes Street (just off Eastbank Street). Check out the map for directions.
In the current climate when we are looking for ways to cut back and reduce our spending, this is a brilliant opportunity to help SAVE YOU MONEY and cut down on unnecessary waste going to the landfill.
